SQA Level 5 NVQ Diploma in Controlling Lifting Operations – Planning Lifts

Who is this qualification for?

The SQA Level 5 NVQ Diploma in Controlling Lifting Operations (Planning Lifts) replaces the old QCF Level 6 NVQ Diploma is suitable for supervisors and managers with responsibility for lifting operations (i.e. the Appointed Person) and leads to the Blue CPCS card.

It is accessible to those who are interpreting and applying sections 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the BS 7121 Safe Use of Cranes guidelines.

In order to gain this NVQ learners must successfully complete the CPCS appointed person lifting operations course (CPCS Code A61) and already be in possession of the Red CPCS card.

What are the entry requirements?

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, however potential candidates must hold the relevant Red CPCS Card and be able to demonstrate to us that they can meet the skills and knowledge requirements of the NVQ before enrolment. We will never enrol any learner onto an NVQ program until we have confirmed that the qualification is actually achievable.

What is the duration of the qualification?

We provide assessor support for a period of up to 1 year, however this qualification is easily achievable in 1 – 3 months depending on the motivation of the candidate.

How is this qualification assessed?

The qualification is assessed through a combination of online and on-site assessment through CADUK’s own ePortfolio system. This process utilises a range of assessment methods such as observation, questioning, product inspection, witness testimonies etc.

What are the Benefits of this qualification?

The qualification will give increased access to workplace opportunities and greatly enhance earning potential.

Achievement of this qualification will also indicate that the individual has access to the Black CSCS card and AssocRICS through the Pearson/Edexcel Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Construction Contracting Operations (General Route).

Professional recognition and accreditations

On achievement the qualification will provide access to the Blue CPCS Card.
